Abstract
Abstract: The article describes the execution and result of an investigation of the “SCR-method” of freeze/thaw-testing concrete. The investigation formed part of the work within RILEM Committee 4-CDC. Five laboratories participated. Two concrete types were tested; one without and one with entrained air. At each laboratory the critical degree of saturation, SCR, was determined by freeze/thaw-experiments and the capillary degree of saturation, SCAP, by water absorption experiments. The deviations in the SCR: s and SCAP: s obtained are small. Hence, the quantitative judgement of freeze/thaw resistance made possible by calculation of the difference between SCR and SCAP was almost the same at all laboratories (fig. 16 a, e,fig. 17).
